R&D

We promise a brighter tomorrow via the technological innovation. We are capable of showcasing high-quality and high-functional products with creative designs as we have concentrated our efforts on R&D activities while actively applying the customers’ needs and changing market trends.

Study on building environments

We have studied building environments to study and develop the next-generation’s green future homes.
We applied the technologies of emitting zero CO2 and using zero fossil fuel energy by using over a total of 50 green technologies. We also adopted green technologies including triple insulated glass windows, the vacuum insulation system, and geothermal heating-cooling system.

Overview

As located in Giheung-gu, Mabuk-dong, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do, the Architectural Environment Research Center is comprised of the Residentail and Commercial Laboratory whose gross area is around 2,600 m2. The Center has six ground floors and one basement floor.

Residential Laboratory

  • 1F
    Zero Energy House Lab

Apply and test ultrahigh heat-insulating housing. Evaluate the design for the Zero Energy House.

  • 2-3F
    Residential Lab

Test an acoustical, heat, and air environment.

  • 4-5F
Recycle, Reduce, Reuse (3Rs) SAB Lab

System quality evaluation room, a mock-up lab for the drying system

  • Verify the Zero Energy House. (Monitor the actual energy consumptions after applying the renewable energy, high insulation, and elementary technology.))
  • Test the heat-insulation system of the wall and window housing.
  • Utilize the geothermal heating-cooling system and photovoltaic power generation and analyze the efficiency.
  • Test the indoor air quality, sound absorption, and sound insulation.
  • Conduct tests on circulating resources and long-lasting homes.* (*Long-lasting homes refer to a green home where replaceable walls and heating systems are used to extend the life of the building.)

Commercial Laboratory

  • Test cell

The test cell of the Building Integrated Photo Voltaic System (BIPV), floor heating, and windows

  • Monitoring

Implement the internet-based monitoring analysis system and study the building energy simulation.

The Commercial Laboratory tests the photovoltaic power generation capacity by attaching the BIPV system where solar cell modules are installed on the double-skin curtain wall.

  • Conduct a visual mock-up test.
  • Evaluate the performance of the BIPV system.
  • Evaluate the heating-cooling load reduction in the window housing.

System Performance Laboratory

  • Acoustics Laboratory(KOLAS)
  • Heat-insulation & Condensation Laboratory(KOLAS)
  • Fire/Wind Resistance Laboratory
  • Be capable of measuring and evaluating the sound insulation performance of walls · windows and various ceilings · ceiling systems.
  • Be able to evaluate the performance of sound absorption materials.
  • Plan to measure airtightness, watertightness, and wind resistance of the windows by using a large test equipment for the wood for fittings and continue to evaluate the fireproof performance of building members including a gypsum board and fire-preventive glass & doors with the fireproof test equipment.
